Indigenous knowledge and cultural responsiveness in my practice

Culturally responsive pedagogy is a student-centered approach to teaching in which the students’ unique cultural strengths are identified and nurtured to promote student achievement and a sense of well-being about the student’s cultural place in the world. Culturally responsive pedagogy is divided into three functional dimensions: the institutional dimension, the personal dimension, and the instructional dimension. The institutional dimension of culturally responsive pedagogy emphasizes the need for reform of the cultural factors affecting the organization of schools, school policies and procedures (including allocation of funds and resources), and community involvement. The personal dimension refers to the process by which teachers learn to become culturally responsive. Key change in my professional practice

Looking back it is unbelievable how much I have learned and the different things that I have tried. There are so many different changes that it is hard to narrow it down to one change in practice. According to Visser and Gagnon (2005), the term “trend” refers to the statistically observable change or general orientation of a general movement (Visser & Gagnon, 2005; Karataş et al,2016).Its trajectory is likely to continue in the near or medium immediate future. Step 1 (Descriptive stage):  Briefly describe how social media is being used in your teaching or in your professional development. When I started I thought that I wasn't using any form of social media in my teaching as I perceived this as Facebook, Twitter etc and as I have discovered I am a very private person and I try to keep my life separate Family / Work.  I look at others and  I think I don't want to be them. We laugh at the coke ad but this is so much our life. I sat in the staffroom and watched half the staff pulled out their phones while others read out the local news headlines from their phone. Writing a literature review.

On our last face to face session, we were told about our literature review. The word then went around how difficult this would be, and how much time it would take. Our school is right into Personalised learning and we were all going to set up a learning hub within the senior cluster of the school. So this was an easy subject to do my review around, or so I thought. I started with Personalised Learning and then changed to modern learning environments, innovative classrooms, 21st-century learning, and so the list goes on all have got the same underlining principles but the variety of terms used and acronyms MLE, PL, ILI would make your head spin.
